Hair Extensions After Care

Let's face it, extensions are expensive. In order to protect and lengthen the life of your hair, we recommend the following tips:

  • Do not wash your hair for 24-48 hours after initial installation.
  • Wash with a professional Sulfate FREE shampoo and conditioner.
  • Do weekly moisturizing treatments.
  • Oil the mid to ends of the hair at least once a day. Avoid the root or application area with oil or conditioner it may make your extensions slide out or get loose sooner.
  • Sleep in a low braid or pony tail.
  • Sleep on a silk or satin pillow case to prevent frizz.
  • Brush a few times a day to prevent tangling.
  • Brush from the ends of your hair moving upward.
  • We do not recommend swimming with your extensions. The risks include: hair discoloration (hair turning peach/orange), absorption of unknown elements in various bodies of water that can cause damage to hair & extensions, tangling & matting, and excessive dryness. At minimum, we recommend coating your hair with a leave-in conditioner to act as a barrier and wear in a braid or loose high bun.
  • We have noticed hard water can strip natural and extension hair of color and nutrients. If possible get a shower filter.
  • Be aware, salt water and chlorine can strip hair of color.
  • Avoid sunscreen touching your extensions.
  • Avoid Brazilian Blowouts or keratin treatments on extensions.
  • Avoid Bleaching extensions.
  • Please make sure to air dry at least 80% of the water before Blowdrying. Indirectly Blow dry the top of weft so it does not hold moisture.
  • Always use a heat protectant.
  • It is normal to loose up to 10% of your extensions by your next appointment. Don’t worry. Just put the hair in a bag and save it for your next appointment.

Clip Ins:

We do not recommend sleeping with your clip-ins.

Blondes:

Do not use sunscreen with avobenzone as an ingredient.

Be mindful of self-tanners, as they will discolor the extension hair.

Sunscreen will cause your extensions to turn an orange/peach color and there is nothing that can be done to get them back to their original color.

Always choose a sunscreen without the ingredient: avobenzone.

Purple Shampoo:

We do not recomend to wash your hair at-home with any purple shampoo products, always see your stylist for toning preferences.
